I'm the Hen Ferchetan. This is my take on the world through the eyes of Wales. While mostly about Welsh politics (that most famous of dour topics!) I try to scatter some humour around, but I doubt anyone but me will find it funny! Have a read, and if it bores you then feel free to never come back!

Thanks

Thanks to whoever of you voted Amlwch to Magor into the Top 20 (just!) of Ian Dale's Top Welsh Blog list. While I'm not a big fan of such awards (which is why I only bothered to draw attention to 1 this year, the Welsh Blog Index's) only a liar would tell you that they don't really appreciate the recognition and gave a big smile at the thought that people they don't know bothered to vote for them.

Congratulations to Peter Black and Glyn Davies who topped the poll and to Ordovicius who was the top non-politician.

Anyone Speak German?

First a post about France, now about Germany - I'm getting world-wise!

In a pathetically vain exercise I typed the name of this blog into Google Blog Search (I know I know, how sad!) and found this paragraph from a German Blog

The only things I understand there are Seperatism, Autonomous, Referendum and Gordon Brown, so i assume it's talking about the Wendy-Gordon hoo-ha. Intertran is (obviously) no help - Any German speakers out there?

Three Cheers For Me!

Well this is my 50th post, so I thought I'd give myself a clap. Yesterday was a big day for this blog, the first time that the majority of people came here directly instead of accidently landing here from another blog or a random google search (someone found this blog by searching for "urine pee", I didn't think my standards were that low!

I've survived longer than the two weeks I feared I'd last, and it seems that someone at least is actually bothering to read what I write.

Big thanks though to every blog who's linked to here, with special thanks to Miserable Old Fart, Normal Mouth who's welcome posts sent a whole lot of people this way. It seems that my posts now appear on the Welsh Political News (thanks for the tip Miss Wagstaff), which might explain the bigg surge in readers today, and the Welsh Blog Index has also helped by linking some of my posts.

There'll be no posts from me this weekend, if you need to ask why then you're clearly not Welsh (C'mon Cymru!).

Croeso!

Welcome to Amlwch to Magor. If you wish to know the significance of the name of this blog, go dig out that AA Road Atlas you haven't looked at since TomTom came along - to narrow your search a bit I'll give you a hint - ignore the pages on England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

I'm Yr Hen Ferchetan. Please, no jokes about losing my lover, it remains a sore discussion point for a single gal, and it doesn't help to have a jolly song written about the moment your heart got ripped out of your chest!

Now I cannot imagine what you could possible have typed into Google to reach here, but if you were looking for the next tea evening in Magor, the latest crime figures for Amlwch or a good deal on satellite navigation equipment I suggest you look elsewhere.

This blog, if it survives more than the two weeks or so most blog survive for, is mainly about politics, mainly Welsh politics. Whether I'll be bothered enough and interesting enough to maintain a blog on that for any length of time is anyone's guess. So please, have a good read. If, to my eternal surprise, you find it interesting, then feel free to comment. If you find it more boring than a combination of the Daily Mail and Daily Post then feel free to bugger off and never return!
